Original Medicare

You are eligible for Original Medicare (also known as Medicare Parts A and B) if you meet a few parameters.  Visit the official Medicare.gov website to see if you qualify and to find out your approximate cost.

Who qualifies?

In general, you qualify for Medicare in the United States when you reach age 65, have been on SSI (Social Security Disability) for at least 24 months, or have ESRD (end stage renal disease) or ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

Do I need to be a U.S. Citizen?

Yes, but legal residents who have lived in the United States for at least 5 years in a row, including the 5 years just before they apply for Medicare, may also qualify.

What exactly are you qualifying for?

Individual health insurance provided by the U.S. government.

Is it free?

No, Medicare is not free.

Is it subsidized?

It depends on your income level.

Does Medicare cover all my medical expenses?

No, it only pays for 80% of approved expenses, minus deductibles and copays with NO CAP. Furthermore, prescription drugs, routine vision, hearing and most dental care is not covered by Original Medicare

What are my options?

Having only Original Medicare may put you at financial risk! This is why you should consider adding a Medicare Insurance plan to pay for what Medicare does not cover. Call MedAssure Solutions at 323-283-9190 or go to our Appointments page today to schedule an appointment to discuss your situation and options. There is no obligation or cost.
